Loss Prevention Material

We believe in sharing data to give you the tools to improve the health and wellbeing of your crew

Improved health for seafarers is expected to result in a workforce that is happier, more fit and can lead to less repatriations, lower insurance premiums, reduced claims, as well as other related operational cost savings. As a marine specialist in crew medical insurance, we are committed to continuously sharing our knowledge with our clients.

As a client, you have access to loss prevention resources from Marine Benefits, along with health data and assessments from our Re:fresh program. These benchmark studies, combined with statistics from claims data, provide a powerful tool for using data to implement and measure preventive initiatives in the company, ultimately improving general health and well-being.

The added value

Our health study Re:fresh is the most comprehensive global maritime health and wellness tracker, based on scientific health models. It provides insight and understanding of areas that need special attention to improve the seafarers’ health and wellbeing. Re:fresh is also offered to our clients on a company level, as part of our Loss Prevention Programme. Our recent Re:fresh report received 36,446 seafarer responses –  contributing to the total global pool of participating seafarers, which is now around 86,000.

We provide all our clients with full insight into the performance of the insurance cover, meaning; who are the users of the medical insurance, why and how often they are using the service. Our extensive report on the performance of the insurance, called G+, gives detailed information on how the insurance is being used and by which member groups. It is important to note that the report is fully anonymized to protect personal privacy. How often the report is shared can be agreed – monthly, quarterly, half year or annual.

Being in good company has some advantages. We believe in sharing data, and as a client you will have full access to our Loss Prevention programme assessing your crew’s welfare. By systematically studying your crew and benchmarking the results against your industry peers, we can assist with a tailormade programme to enhance good health and a positive work environment.  We also offer to attend crewing seminars to share information about the insurance as well as provide health talks to create awareness.
